Reddick Wins Alsco 300 As Race Contenders All Have Problems

Tyler Reddick outlasted the field on an unseasonably hot and humid day in North Carolina. Reddick, dominated the final stage of Saturday’s Alsco 300 en route to his second win of the season and fifth of his NASCAR XFINITY Series career.

The Richard Childress Racing driver led a race-high 110 of 200 Laps on Saturday to win for the second time in the last three races of the year. His No. 2 Chevrolet was virtually untouchable from the end of the second stage on. The defending series champion now has eight consecutive top four finishes on the season.

Justin Allgaier brought his No. 7 Chevrolet home runner-up for the second straight race. It was Allgaier’s first top five finish at Charlotte since May 2016 but his fifth top seven in his last eight starts on the 1.5-mile track. He has three top three finishes in his last four starts on the year.

Jeffrey Earnhardt rebounded to a third place finish in his No. 18 Toyota while Noah Gragson and Justin Haley rounded out the top five.

The race was overall dominated by the “Big 3.” See, Reddick, Cole Custer and Christopher Bell have combined to win seven of the 11 races run now in 2019. They’ve also combined to lead 59-percent of the lap run this season with leading 1,242 laps of the 2,093 laps completed.

On Saturday, Reddick led 110 laps while Bell and Custer led 34 and 24 laps respectively. Unfortunately for them, Bell suffered a cut tire at the end of the second stage. His Joe Gibbs Racing teammate of Brandon Jones suffered a cut tire on the exact same lap but he hit pit road quickly. Bell, didn’t and suffered severe damage to his No. 20 Toyota which ended his day with a 31st place finish. It was just the second time in the last seven races that he didn’t finish in the top three.

Custer, cut a tire at the end of the first stage and would finish 24th.

John Hunter Nemechek and Chase Briscoe also had problems towards the end too. Nemechek brought his No. 23 Chevrolet home 12th ending a streak of five straight top 10 finishes. Briscoe, finished 19th and saw his eight race streak of top eight finishes come to an end as well.
