Windom Walks Away From 2 Frightening Crashes In Less Than 15 Hours Apart

INDIANAPOLIS – Chris Windom is making the news for all the wrong reasons. The USAC driver was hoping to have a career defining week here in Indy. The dirt star was racing in Terre Haute on Wednesday, the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Thursday, Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday as well as Lucas Oil Raceway Park later on in the day and finish at the Anderson Speedway on Saturday. He was doing so in two sprint car races, two Silver Crown races and one Indy Lights race.

Unfortunately, he’s off to a crashing start.

In Thursday night’s Hoosier 100, Windom looked early on like the favorite to win the race. He started second but quickly found the lead. Unfortunately, it looked like he had a right rear tire go down and as a result, not only did he get into the outside wall, he started barrel rolling down the front stretch.

Luckily, he was able to climb out and be okay. Then, he showed up to IMS on Saturday to race in the Freedom 100 Indy Lights Series race. Unfortunately, that was short lived. In Turn 4 on the opening lap, fellow rookie driver David Malukas lost control of his car and spun. Windom, had nowhere to go.

Windom, went up over top of Malukas and into the low part of the catch fencing. Luckily again, he walked away.

For a driver with so much talent, he’s having some really bad luck right now. Hopefully, this luck turns around.
