Kyle Larson is due. There’s no doubt about it. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is riding a 53 race winless streak heading into Sunday’s Food City 500 (2 p.m. ET/FS1/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

See, prior to his last win at Richmond in the final regular season race of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, Larson had four wins and seven runner-ups in the first 26 races. In the 53 races since, he does have seven runner-ups but just 13 total top five finishes in his No. 42 Chevrolet.
So far to start the 2019 season, Larson’s struggles have continued. He’s only scored two top 10 finishes in seven tries. He hasn’t had a top five finish since Phoenix last November.
Maybe that changes this weekend at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway.
Larson, enters this Bristol weekend with four straight top 10 finishes there. He came home runner-up in both races a year ago too. Plus, he has three front row starting spots in those four events as well.
Furthermore, Larson has led 200 or more laps in each of his last two starts in the spring race.
That sounds like a driver with something to prove. Can he do so on Sunday?
