Top Betting Favorites, Sleepers For Sunday’s Auto Club 400 (3:30 p.m. ET/FOX/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

There may have been five straight different winners at the Auto Club Speedway in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series action. Also, we’ve seen four different winners to start the 2019 season off with too. So, will we see a trend of a new winner take victory lane in Sunday’s Auto Club 400 (3:30 p.m. ET/FOX/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) in Fontana?

On Saturday, the Ford’s were the top cars as they took four of the top seven spots on the speed chart in the first practice session of the day and six of the top seven in the second. Will we see a Ford driver win?

Here are the top favorites and sleepers for Sunday’s race.

Favorites

Kyle Busch (+450)

He’s the obvious favorite and would make history. Since he didn’t win on Saturday, a win on Sunday would give him 200 for his NASCAR career. Busch, has a legitimate shot too. He will start fourth in his No. 18 Toyota and was fourth, second and 11th respectively on single lap runs in practice this weekend. On the 10 lap average chart, he was second and sixth respectively.

Busch, also has four top three finishes in his last six Cup Series starts in Fontana to go along with four top six finishes in as many tries on the season.

Brad Keselowski (+650)

He’s been good of late in Fontana too. Keselowski, has four straight top 10 finishes on this track including a win in 2015. This year, the Team Penske driver has two top two finishes in four tries. In terms of this weekend, Keselowski was sixth, third and first respectively in practice on single lap runs and first and third on the 10 lap averages chart. He starts 13th on Sunday.

Joey Logano (+650)

The Penske’s were strong on Saturday. All three drivers were in the top six in final practice. Logano, was sixth in both practices sessions in fact on Saturday. He will start fifth in the race too. Also, Logano has five top seven finishes in his last six Fontana starts and three top 10’s in four races this season.

Kyle Larson (+700)

He hasn’t been very good this weekend as Larson was only 10th, 26th and 16th in practice on single car runs. He was just 15th and eighth respectively on 10 lap averages. He will also start in 15th. But, Larson does have three top two finishes in his last five Fontana starts, so I can’t overlook him.

Sleepers

Aric Almirola (+2000)

He has been quietly strong this season with three top eight finishes in four starts. While he has never scored a top 10 finish in Fontana before, his car this weekend is strong. Almirola, was 11th, seventh and fourth respectively in practice on single car runs and fifth and 16th respectively on the 10 lap averages chart. He rolls off third on Sunday.

Erik Jones (+2200)

He has slumped lately and was only 18th in qualifying, but Jones’ 10 lap averages were sixth and fifth respectively. That tells me that with a track like Fontana that produces some long green flag runs, that Jones can climb. Plus, Toyota’s are typically strong on the southern California track too.

Alex Bowman (+5000)

He’s been very good this weekend. Bowman, was eighth in both practice sessions on Saturday in single car runs and third and fourth on the 10 lap averages.

Austin Dillon (+5000)

He has three top 11 finishes in his career in Fontana to go along with starting on the pole for Sunday’s race. RCR has showed flashes of speed this season but hasn’t finished the races strong. With fast cars this weekend, Dillon can shine. he was second, ninth and ninth respectively in practice.

Daniel Hemric (+12500)

He should have had a top five finish on a similar aged track in Atlanta a few weeks ago. Also, Hemric was fifth and second respectively on single lap runs in practice and fourth and first respectively on the 10 lap averages. Why not take a risk here?
