We’re nearing the start of the 57th annual Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Practice has been underway and qualifying to set the lineup for this weekend’s race at the Daytona International Speedway is in the books.
With that being said, this year’s field has a lot of IndyCar ties. There’s also a few NASCAR ties in there too.
Out of the 11 DPi entries, seven have cars fielded with an IndyCar tie to them. You have both Penske entries with IndyCar drivers in each, Fernando Alonso with Wayne Taylor Racing, Juncos Racing with Kyle Kaiser and Rene Binder and others.
The only NASCAR ties are Katherine Legge, who has more of a open wheel background though with Shank/Meyer Racing, her teammate Justin Marks who too has a similar background to Legge and his teammate AJ Allmendinger who actually just recently retired from NASCAR.
The only full time NASCAR Driver in the field this weekend is Austin Cindric.
Other than that, this weekend’s race has an Indy Car feel.
